Edgar Poe was born in Boston, the second child of David Poe and Elizabeth Arnold Hopkins Poe. Parents died early, Poe was adopted by John Allan. From there Allan became Edgar’s second surname. The years 1815–1820 Edgar Poe and Allan’s family went to England, Poe studied at Richmond School. In 1826, he entered the University of Virginia, but only learned a semester and quit. In 1827 Poe returned to Boston to print Tamerlane and Other Poems, the same year Poe joined the army and two years later, when his adoptive mother died, Poe resigned. , and Minor Poems. In 1830, he enrolled in military school, but dropped out only a year later. Back in New York, Poe printed the book Poems. In 1845 printed poem Raven (The Crow), is Poe’s most famous work. In 1847, his wife died, Poe was seriously ill, barely composing all year, but two years later he wrote many famous poems such as: The Bells, For Annie, Annabel Lee, Eldorado … In 1849 he lived. with a woman who used to love each other.
